Armed Forces Readiness Center
CAMP DODGE, JOHNSTON, IOWA

The Armed Forces Readiness Center (AFRC) Complex is a 31 acre joint project between the Iowa National Guard, the United States Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) and the Military Entrance Processing Command (MEPCOM). The project is comprised of more than 211,000 total square feet of building space which is contained within three separate buildings. CDA performed site engineering tasks associated with the development of the AFRC Complex, included grade design, storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water main design, landscaping plans and the design of "green" features within the site, including 2000 lf of bio-swale that encompasses the AFRC building.

 
   

THE GALLERIA AT JORDAN CREEK
WEST DES MOINES, IOWA

The Galleria at Jordan Creek is comprised of 73 acres of land located near Jordan Creek Mall in West Des Moines, Iowa. Land uses include retail, mixed use, multifamily residential, office, financial, specialty retail and restaurants. CDA prepared several site plans for individual sites located within The Galleria at Jordan Creek. Services included concept planning, site engineering, public infrastructure design, landscape design, platting and surveying.

 

   

THE WOODLAND RESERVE
ANKENY, IOWA

The Woodland Reserve is a 120-acre planned unit development featuring a variety of residential and commercial mixed-use land uses. Community amenities include ponds, natural woodlands, landscaped boulevards, enhanced street lighting and street signage, entry-features and interconnecting pedestrian walkways. CDA performed all planning and site engineering tasks associated with the project.

 

   

MICHAEL’S LANDING
WEST DES MOINES, IOWA

CDA provided planning and engineering services for this 344-acre planned unit development. The plan features a wide variety of land uses including single-family detached homes, townhomes, condominiums, convenience commercial and office uses, a 10-acre public park, a 20-acre elementary school site, a 50-acre retirement community, and 45 acres of active adult living. More than 30 acres of greenway extends throughout the site, where a large natural drainage way, mature trees, and a series of wetlands are all being preserved. Pedestrian trails are being extended throughout the greenway connecting the variety of uses to one another as well as to the surrounding developments. Utilizing new urbanist elements, the plan calls for a 20-acre mixed use neighborhood center, where the characteristics of a Midwestern small town main street are reflected. Retail building storefronts built right up to generously wide sidewalks, street trees and street furniture, decorative street lighting, and the majority of parking relegated to the rear of buildings, all contribute to the welcoming, pedestrian-oriented environment.

 

   

WILD ROSE CASINO
EMMETSBURG, IOWA

CDA provide the site engineering services for this 88 acre Casino, Hotel, and RV facility, including working with the Iowa DOT on improving the highway and casino access from Highway 18. The plan includes a 15 acre lake created partially to provide earth to raise the casino and hotel pad to facilitate gravity sanitary sewer and positive drainage for the entire site.. A 4 plus acre wetland was created just north of the new lake. Together, these two features have helped alleviate some of the historic drainage problems this area has experienced. Additional features for this site included a unique circular parking lot design featuring bio-swales placed between the rows of parking stalls.
